Discover MoreWho We Are
Hinode East Enterprise is a Kuala Lumpur-based FMCG consultancy serving two distinct client groups — brand owners and manufacturers looking to enter and grow across ASEAN markets, and retailers seeking to elevate their product range through smarter global sourcing.
For brand owners and manufacturers, we open doors across Southeast Asia — navigating the complex web of import regulations, distribution structures, and local market dynamics that determine whether a product succeeds or stalls at the border. We understand the rules, the paperwork, and the people.
For retailers, we source globally to build better shelves — identifying innovative new food products, closing range gaps, and connecting buyers with the right suppliers worldwide. We know what consumers want before it becomes obvious.
At Hinode East, we do not just advise — we roll up our sleeves and grow alongside you.
The Person Behind It
Adeline Tang brings over a decade of hands-on experience in FMCG distribution and trade across Asia. As co-founder of DS Borneo Trading — established in 2013 — she built one of Malaysia's leading premium food and beverage import and distribution businesses from the ground up, supplying some of the country's most discerning retail names, international hotel chains, and fine dining restaurants across East and West Malaysia.
Over those years, Adeline developed deep expertise in navigating ASEAN market entry, import compliance, and retail ranging — while building a global supplier network spanning ASEAN, Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and Japan across ambient, chilled, and frozen product categories.
Having grown up in Australia, Adeline brings a natural understanding of the Australian market and its FMCG landscape — a genuine edge when sourcing Australian products for Asian markets or supporting Australian brands looking to expand into the region.
Fluent across multiple languages and deeply familiar with the cultural nuances that shape commerce across Asia, Adeline founded Hinode East to bring this accumulated knowledge to a wider range of clients — helping brands, manufacturers, and retailers navigate markets with confidence, and manage the risks that come with operating across complex, fast-moving regions.
What We Do
We help brand owners and manufacturers navigate the path into Southeast Asian markets — from identifying the right entry points and distribution partners to building the local relationships that turn a launch into a lasting presence across the region.
Every ASEAN market has its own import rules, labelling requirements, and regulatory frameworks. We know them in depth — guiding your products through the compliance process efficiently so you avoid costly delays and rejections at the border.
We identify and vet the right manufacturing and supply partners worldwide to meet your specific product, quality, and cost requirements. From halal-certified facilities in Malaysia to specialist producers across Asia and beyond, we connect you to the right source.
We work with retailers to sharpen their product ranges — identifying gaps, removing underperformers, and sourcing better alternatives. Our approach is grounded in commercial reality: what sells, what margins work, and what your customers are ready for next.
We source innovative and emerging food products from global markets for retailers looking to stay ahead of consumer trends. From functional foods to regional specialities, we find what is next before it becomes mainstream — giving your range a genuine competitive edge.
We diagnose performance gaps and build stronger commercial foundations for FMCG businesses at any stage. Our gap analysis methodology identifies exactly where value is being lost — and maps a clear, practical path to capturing it across your operations, ranging, and supply chain.
We help clients move goods reliably across the globe — coordinating road, air, and sea freight through our network of trusted freight partners. From a single shipment to full end-to-end logistics management, we ensure your products reach their destination on time and at the right cost.
Entering new markets and managing cross-border supply chains carries real risk — regulatory, commercial, and operational. We help clients identify, assess, and manage these risks before they become costly problems. From product compliance gaps and market entry hazards to supplier reliability and geopolitical supply chain exposure, we bring honest, experienced analysis so you can move forward with confidence.
